By taking 3 grams of Soy Protein Hydrolyzate with bound Phospholipids (CSPHP) /day for 3 months consecutively, CSPHP reduced
both their total cholesterol (252.1±8.2 mg/dl) and LDL-cholesterol
level (168.3±10.9 mg/dl) of the hypercholesterolemia patients to 213.9±6.6
mg/dl and 122.4±12.6 mg/dl, respectively. Both total-cholesterol and
LDL-cholesterol showed a decrease after 1 month period by 10.4% and
17.1% (vs. initial), respectively. The maximum reduction of the two
cholesterols were 15.0% and 27.7% (p<0.05), respectively, which
was seen at the end of the 3 month period. Dose dependent response
was seen when given 6 grams of CSPHP per day. Another positive result
was an increase of HDL-cholesterol. Hence, it can be concluded that
CSPHP lowers total-cholesterol and LDL-cholesterol, and notably increases
HDL-cholesterol.

Oral CSPHP of 3g
or more significantly suppressed the serum total-cholesterol and LDL-cholesterol
surge when given to healthy people (167±7.7mg/dl) receiving a high
cholesterol diet (+500mg cholesterol/day). Therefore, it can be concluded
that CSPHP can suppress the cholesterol increases relating to a diet
high in cholesterol. We believe it to be significant that CSPHP
did not lower cholesterol level if the cholesterol level was in the
healthy range.
Several other Kyowa Hakko sponsored clinical studies are currently
under way world widely, and we hope to show that CSPHP works regardless
of sex, age, race etc. |
